Patna, July 11: The city police are ready to deploy adequate forces and make necessary traffic diversions for the visit of Vice-PresidentMohammed Hamid Ansari to Patna tomorrow.
City superintendent of police (SP) and traffic SP Shivdeep Lande told The Telegraph that 150 traffic policemen will be deployed in as many as 77 static locations of the state capital.
The Vice-President is slated to visit Raj Bhavan after landing at Patna airport around 10am. After meeting the governor, he will go to meet chief minister Nitish Kumar at 1, Aney Marg over lunch and then leave for Hotel Maurya to attend the birth anniversary celebrations of former chief minister Satyendra Narayan Sinha.
Adequate traffic personnel will be deployed at most of the roundabouts of the state capital.
“One havildar and six constables will be posted at Patel roundabout and one havildar and four constables in the airport parking area. Similarly, one havildar and four constables will man Hartali roundabout. The area near Patna High Court will have one havildar and four traffic constables to control the traffic situation. At Dakbungalow roundabout, two havildars and four constables will be stationed,” the officer said. People coming from Chitkohra Bridge will not be allowed to enter Bailey Road but diverted to R-Block and then to the road that connects with Patna railway station, where more forces will be deployed for better traffic control, Lande added.
Moreover, a huge number of policemen too will be deployed to look into security factors, the officer said. Around 130 policemen will stand guard at Patna airport when the flight arrives.
“Eighty policemen will be deployed on the route between the airport and Raj Bhavan at different locations. The route from Raj Bhavan to Hotel Maurya will have 100 policemen. At Hotel Maurya, around 95 policemen will be stationed,” the City SP said.
The officer added that at least two cranes would be present at Patel roundabout and Income Tax roundabout to tow away any vehicle that develops a snag.
“The cranes will be on the constant move as the Vice-President’s carcade moves on. Emergency services will run without any halt. A contingency plan is also ready with the police in form of a secret route in case of an emergency,” the officer said.
Those approaching the city from Raja Bazaar will have to take a diversion along Dumrao Chowk.
Requisite barricading has been done in many places and the traffic policemen will inform the people about the diversions, the officer said.
