Rape whiff in Calcutta girl rescue

Patna, Nov. 21: Patna police have initiated tests on a girl, aged 13-14, found in semi-nude condition from Maharani Chowk under Fatuha police station on Wednesday.

Police suspect she may have been raped.

The girl, who hails from Lake Town area of Calcutta, had come with her family to Takht Shri Harmandir Sahib Gurdwara on November 12. Her father is a retired bank official. They were staying at a relative’s place near the gurdwara, under the Chowk police station area.

“The girl seems to be mentally unstable. Her father says she left home after a quarrel on November 13. A medical test will be conducted and an FIR lodged,” an officer said. The girl, in her initial statement told police she was moving around aimlessly when she was duped by some men who had misbehaved with her.
