Patna: The Raj Bhavan has constituted a three-member committee that will recommend measures to iron out procedural and practical problems arising during the BEd combined entrance test.
As candidates during the last BEd combined entrance test had to face several problems, the committee will look into the measures so that candidates' inconvenience is minimised this time. Sources said the process for the next test will commence in February 2019 and the examination will be conducted in May. The committee is headed by vice-chancellor of Nalanda Open University, while other members of the committee are pro-VCs of Nalanda Open University, Patliputra University and Aryabhatta Knowledge University.
S.K. Sinha, the registrar of Nalanda Open University, said: "The committee will discuss ways to find solutions on allotting colleges in home districts of students. Also we will go through the steps to make online application easier."The first test conducted by Nalanda Open University witnessed several glitches such as student-college allotment in far from home districts. Based on the test score, students were allotted colleges, which were far from their home districts leaving many seats vacant.
Around 82,132 candidates appeared for the BEd entrance in July 15 for 33,700 BEd seats in 314 private and government BEd colleges. Sources said despite combined entrance tests, around 15,000 seats are vacant. Sources said it was mostly women who faced problems because of the combined test. Suman Sharma, a candidate who cracked the test last year, said: "I was allotted Suderwati Mahila College in Bhagalpur. It was difficult for me to commute from Patna to Bhagalpur. I decided not to join."
