Patna: The Government Railway Police along with personnel from the local police stations conducted raids at various places in the city on Wednesday to track down criminals who were involved in the stabbing incidents of two railway passengers on Tuesday early morning.

According to sources, the police, based on information provided by four youths detained in connection with the stabbing incidents, conducted raids at Lohanipur, Chiraiyatand bridge, Mithapur and other areas.

On Tuesday early morning, armed robbers had stabbed to death a labourer, Rudal Yadav, at Kathpul who was returning from Punjab to his village in Madhepura. In the incident Rudal's friend Rambhu Yadav, too, suffered injuries in his hands.

An hour after the incident, the Government Railway Police recovered an unidentified body of a 30-year-old youth from a coach of Patna-Gaya passenger which was stranded near Kathpul.

Superintendent of railway police, Patna, Ashok Kumar Singh said: "We conducted raids at various places to trace the criminals involved in the incident. We have important leads and we are working on it." Singh added that the 30-year-old youth whose body was recovered from the railway compartment is yet to be identified.

The SP said: "Today (Wednesday) we called the tailor from Punpun who had stitched the trouser the victim was wearing, but he too failed to identify the youth."

The victim was wearing a trouser stitched by a tailor from Punpun. The police have also sent photographs of the victim to the nearby police stations for identification.

The railway police on Tuesday evening deputed a static police force at Kathpul as part of security arrangement. Five armed personnel comprising an officer and four constables will man the security at Kathpul as static force in two shifts from 4pm to 12midnight and second from 12midnight to 8am.

The SP said the personnel at Kathpul have been asked not to leave the spot before 8am. Sources said the police patrolling team generally leave the area around 4am to 5am and it has been observed that maximum crime incidents occur during this time.

The police said the stab marks on both the bodies were similar indicating that the same gang could have been involved in the incident.

While in the first incident Rudal Yadav was stabbed on the railway tracks, in the second incident the passenger might have taken shelter after getting stabbed or his body was hidden by the criminals.
