Purnea, April 24: The State Health Society, Bihar and National Health Systems Resource Centre, New Delhi, have jointly assigned the duty of standardising the health facilities in the state to Octavo Solutions in New Delhi.
National Health Systems Resource Centre is a technical support institution under the Union ministry of health and family welfare.
Octavo Solutions through its representative, Dr Sunil Kumar Bhatt, recently imparted four days of training to the employees of Purnea Sadar Hospital.
After going back to Delhi, he would send a list of different physical infrastructure, including building, employees, medicines, equipment, blood bank, which are considered to be the requisites for the ISO 9001-2008 certification to the resource centre.
Gradually, all necessary procedures will be completed before the Purnea Sadar Hospital is given the ISO certificate. Along with Purnea Sadar Hospital, two other hospitals — one at Nalanda and the other at Muzaffarpur — have also been selected for the standardisation process.
Twenty-nine primary health centres across the state are also in line for certification.
Deputy civil surgeon of Purnea Sadar Hospital Dr Jawahar Khan told The Telegraph: “Sunil Kumar Bhatt, a representative of Octavo Solutions, had come to impart four days of training to the employees at all levels and enlist infrastructure required to obtain the ISO 9001-2008 certification. Bhatt had analysed manpower, building, and availability of medicines at the hospital. He is likely to submit a report over this to the civil surgeon in day or two.”
After the hospital obtains the certificate, the health delivery system would improve and all requisite facilities would also be available on the premises. In comparison to other sadar hospitals, Purnea Sadar Hospital has better infrastructure and the certification will help it maintain the standard of healthcare, Khan added.
Other than the employees of Purnea Sadar Hospital, members of Rogi Kalyan Samity also attended the training sessions with Bhatt.
The Samity, supported by the state health society, has been extending its assistance for better functioning of the hospital for the past few years.
