Chhapra, June 17: The principal of Ganga Singh College has landed in the soup for allegedly acting as the centre superintendent while his wife appeared for the postgraduate examination in psychology.
District magistrate (DM) Vinay Kumar has directed the controller of examination of Jai Prakash University, Gopal Prasad Arya, to lodge a case against the principal, K.P. Srivastav, his wife Surbhi Priya and then observer Saroj Kumar Verma.
“The state vigilance department had asked me to probe if Srivastav remained the centre superintendent while his wife appeared for the postgraduate examinations in psychology. It has also asked to find out if someone else appeared for the examination on Surbhi’s behalf,” Vinay told The Telegraph.
“The department had then written to the controller of examinations to probe the matter and report to him within two days. The report has found that he was the centre superintendent when his wife appeared for the examination. So the department has ordered to lodge the FIR against the principal. It has also instructed the controller of examination to withhold the result of Surbhi Priya,” the DM said.
Sources said Surbhi was a postgraduate student of psychology in Jagdam College. She had appeared in the exam at Ganga Singh College in April, while her husband was the centre superintendent. The matter was brought to the notice of the university and an inquiry was conducted. But the issue was hushed up and the report was not made public.
Srivastav refuted all allegations but accepted that his sister-in-law, whose name is Survi Priya, had appeared for the examination. He claimed his wife was “Surbhi” and not “Survi”.“Since my relation with my sister-in-law is not that close, I accepted the offer of becoming the centre superintendent,” he said. The principal also refuted the allegation that someone else appeared in the exam on behalf of his wife.
Later, one Atul Kumar wrote to the vigilance department and provided the documents upon which the department asked the district magistrate to conduct a probe.
Then observer Saroj Kumar Verma of Rajendra College also failed to notice the muddle. He allegedly tried to hush up the matter. So, an FIR would be lodged against him as well.
