A company engaged in manufacturing of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes is on the verge of closure because of alleged apathetic attitude of the Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited.
Officials at Freedom Plast Pvt. Ltd on Monday said the power utility sent them inflated electricity bills. “We started the unit in Hajipur industrial area in 2004 with a total load section of 90hp but they were increased to 200kvA in April last year after we bought two new machines. Since then the problems of hefty bills have started. In February this year, I got a notice from the company and power connection to my unit was disconnected on February 28,” Mohammed Afsar Imam, the pipe manufacturing unit managing director, said. Imam added that he had filed a writ petition in the high court on March 11. “The court asked me to pay Rs 9 lakh to the power utility but its officials refused to accept it,” he said, adding that connection was not restored.
The power company officials could not be contacted.
