Patna, Dec. 27: Bollywood composerPritamwould perform tomorrow on the inaugural day of the Rajgir Mahotsav.

Apart from Pritam, singer Javed Ali and a number of artistes from reality show Indian Idol and Sa Re Ga Ma would take part. Dance groups from Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Thailand would also put up various acts.

Tourism minister Javed Iqbal Ansari would inaugurate the 15-day fair.Melas, tonga race, games and cultural shows would also be organised during the day at Quila Maidan - the venue.

Vendors from different states would sell their products, including clothes, handicraft, interior decoration accessories, agriculture equipment and others. A book fair would also be organised. A total of 50 temporary stalls have been set up at the venue by the tourism department through an event manager. These stalls have been distributed among different government departments, including art, culture and youth affairs, agriculture, rural development, health and others.

'The theme of this year's Mahotsav is Festival of Dance and Music,' said a senior official of tourism department.

Rajgir Mahotsav was first held in 1986. In a first-ever initiative this year, the industries department, along with Upendra Maharathi Shilp Anusandhan Sansthan, set up an art and craft village at the venue. Local artists would give live demonstrations of different folk art forms such as Madhubani paintings and others.

Police officers in Nalanda claimed that adequate deployment of personnel has been made. Metal detectors would be used at various checkpoints and vigil will be kept through CCTV cameras.

A control room would also be set up at the venue.
