Patna, Dec. 27: A BJP MLA has been accused of plotting a double murder in Supaul district while a JDU lawmaker's son is evading arrest in the murder case of his caretaker in Muzafffarpur district.
In both cases, investigation is progressing at a snail's pace.
The BJP MLA from Chhatapur in Supaul district, Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu, is among 15 accused booked on the charge of killing two persons - Sonu Singh and Bitu Mishra - residents of Supaul district. Their bodies were recovered from Birpur canal (in Supaul district) on December 24, a week after they went missing on December 16.
Supaul superintendent of police (SP) Kumar Ekale said Bablu has been made named accused in a twin murder case lodged with the Birpur town police station on the statement of Ranju Devi, the sister of one of the dead, Sonu Singh. Ranju is the chairperson of Supaul zila parishad.
Though Ranju alleged that hired killers murdered Sonu at the MLA's behest, the police said action would be taken against Bablu on the basis of evidence. "The allegations against the MLA are being verified," Supaul SP Ekale told The Telegraph over phone on Tuesday.
Ranju said her younger brother was murdered for political reasons. "He (Bablu) had vehemently opposed my election as district board chairperson. But I emerged victorious," Ranju said. "I'm being framed out of political vendetta. I'm in no way related to the murder," Bablu said. His confidant said Sonu had criminal antecedents. In Muzaffarpur, a police team raided the ancestral house of JDU MLC Dinesh Prasad Singh in Fatehpur village under the jurisdiction of Kanti police station in search of the lawmaker's son Chhotu Singh, an accused in the murder of his caretaker Suresh Sah. The police returned empty-handed as Chhotu was not there.
Suresh was found dead near Fardo bridge on December 21, a day after he went with Chhotu. Suresh's wife Radha Devi lodged a police complaint accusing Chhotu and his associate Bhule Rai of killing her husband, who looked after the MLA's ancestral property.
