Patna, June 23: Indu Bhushan Singh today appealed to the state government to forgive those indulged in violence during the funeral procession of his father, former Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh “Mukhiya”, and threatened agitation if the latter’s killers were not arrested within four days.
Addressing a news meet, Singh said the people went on the rampage during his father’s funeral on June 2 because they were “angry and emotional”. But the president of Akhil Bharatiya Rashtravadi Kisan Sangathan said he did not know those involved in the ruckus.
Akhil Bharatiya Rashtravadi Kisan Sangathan is a new form of Ranvir Sena, which Mukhiya had formed.
“We appeal to the government to pardon those who indulged in violence in the state capital during my father’s funeral procession. We have got no idea about the people who went on the rampage, but we insist that no innocent person should be punished. The people were angry and emotional, which is why they indulged in protests. The government should let the people go,” he said.
Alleging that the state government was not serious to nail the killers of his father, Singh demanded a speedy probe into the murder. “The party will organise rallies across the state in the next three to four days if those involved in the murder were not arrested,” he said.
“We never demanded a CBI probe into the murder, as it takes a lot of time. But the police investigation is going on at a very sluggish pace. We are okay with the state government ordering a CBI probe, but we want a speedy arrest of those involved in the murder,” Singh said. “I do not understand why chief minister Nitish Kumar has not issued any statement over the slow pace of investigations yet,” he said.
“We do not know which way the investigation is heading. The state government had said the case would be solved in about 21 days. But the deadline has passed and the case has not been solved. We will wait for four more days after which we will launch statewide protests,” he added.
Mukhiya was shot dead at Katira village in Bhojpur district on June 1.
