Slumchildren associated with various non-government organisations and Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan at Funtasia Island in Sampatchak, Patna, on Wednesday. Around 1,500 children enjoyed free rides at the water park, which allowed them free entry for the day. The facility was closed to other guests. For most of the kids, it was their first time at such a park and they used the opportunity well. Vaishnavi, a Class IV student of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kankerbagh, said: "It was a lot of fun at the water park. This was my first visit and I made sure to enjoy all the rides." Vaishnavi and the others spent seven hours at the Sampatchak park, trying out all its attractions, including the 80ft tall statue tower (waterfall from the top in the form of a shower), cartoon shower, water see-saw and the rain dance platform. Reshu Kumar, one of the kids associated with Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan, said: "One of our teachers who accompanied us to the park took many pictures of us playing around. I will never forget this day." Announcing the event earlier this month, Funtasia Island owner Sanjay Choudhary had said: "Children from elite families frequent our place but slumchildren cannot even think of coming here because of the entry fee ranging from Rs 350-450. So, we thought of organising such a programme - after all, slumchildren also have the right to enjoy life." Choudhary hails from Patna but has major business interests in Mumbai.
