Patna, May 19: Four youths from Haryana have lodged a complaint with the Patna police against a fake job consultancy firm which duped them of at least Rs 1 lakh.
The police after preliminary investigation claimed the men involved in the job racket duped many others from different cities. The police added that the gang extracted crores in the name of providing jobs.
The youths from Haryana claimed the job firm had opened offices in Patna and at Pune in Maharashtra. They said they were promised different jobs with salaries between Rs 14,000 and Rs 20,000 in the state’s forest and environment department.
“There are many like us. From Haryana alone, there are at least 15 people we know who have shelled out Rs 20,000 each for the job. The consultancy firm had brought out advertisements in various newspapers there and it looked very exciting to us. We applied and now we are stuck,” said Kuldeep Singh, one of the victims.
The firm, Central Public Consultancy Services opened offices at flat number 710 (D), Dina Towers, Press Lane located in the Exhibition Road in the state capital with one Suraj Singh as the contact here.
“In Pune, one Kanishka Lohria, who claimed to be the managing director of the firm used to sit with the office located in Suman Towers, flat number 18, sector-2 at Shivaji Nagar. The boys had to come to Patna three times in the past one and half months for interviews and other tests. Finally, a fortnight back, the company had given them their appointment letters after shelling out a sum ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 30,000 from each one of them. They were confirmed of their jobs and were asked to go to Pune from where they could collect their joining letters,” City superintendent of police Shivdeep Lande said.
The youths after reaching Pune found that there was no such office. “When we came to Patna we found that even this office is closed. Now we have come to the police for help,” said Hans Raj, another victim.
The police said similar advertisements were published in newspapers in Punjab as well. Lande added that aspirants should verify advertisements before shelling out such a huge sum of money.
