Gaya, June 16: A village headman was today arrested with a 7.65mm pistol and two rounds at the venue of Lalu Prasad’s meeting in Jehanabad, barely a few minutes before the RJD chief reached the place.

Police said a similar pistol was used in the murder of Ra-nvir Sena founder Brahmes-hwar Singh “Mukhiya” in Ara. Superintendent of police (Jehanabad) Harpreet Kaur told The Telegraph that a case under arms act has been lodged against Sanjay Kumar Singh, the sarpanch of Damuhan panchayat, for carrying the pistol to Ounta Middle School, the venue of Lalu’s meeting.

Singh, a retired Border Security Force havildar, claimed he had got the license for the gun from Jammu and Kashmir. The police said the license had expired on May 15.

Lalu, while addressing the rally, expressed concern over the poor law and order in the state and referred to Brahmeshwar to drive home his point. In the evening, the RJD chief addressed another public meeting at Panchanpur in Tekari block of Gaya district.
