Patna: The Bihar government on Tuesday gave its nod to a general administration department proposal to create 185 posts of additional district and sessions judges to perk up the lower judiciary in the state.
Of these, 147 will be for fast track courts and 38 for additional courts to be constituted. Approval has also been given to create posts of 10 additional principal judges for family courts, and an additional chief judicial magistrate for Mohania under Kaimur court.
Decisions in this regard were taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar at the main secretariat here in Patna.
The cabinet also approved the proposal to seek Bihar governor's approval to publish the CAG probe and audit report into the fraud committed by the Bihar State Milk Cooperative Federation (COMFED) in providing mil at lower prices to Joya Dairy in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh in 2014. COMFED was selling milk under its Sudha brand at Rs 33-43/litre in Bihar but used to supply it to Joya Dairy for Rs 25/ litre, including transportation cost.
The cabinet also approved the proposal to release Rs 31 crore to pay June 2018 salaries to 3,372 teachers of upgraded secondary schools in the state.
It also okayed spending of Rs 302 crore from the state's share to provide eggs once a week and seasonal fruits to vegetarians in midday meals in the current fiscal. The cabinet also approved Rs 70 crore to provide pending honorarium to coordinators and other people employed for audit work under the centrally-sponsored Sakshar Bharat Mission programme.
The state government approved a grant of Rs 211.50 crore for expected use of 450 million units to operate water pumps installed under Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal - piped water supply for every household - scheme. It approved a Rs 50 crore grant for this in 2018-19.
The cabinet also approved Mukhyamantri Gram Parivahan Yojana for rural transportation and connectivity that chief minister Nitish Kumar had announced on Independence Day. Under it youth belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Extremely Backward Classes (EBC) will be provided grants of up to 50 per cent or Rs 1 lakh to buy automobiles with a seating capacity of four to 10 persons.
