Patna, June 2: The mortal remains of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh “Mukhiya” were consigned to flames at Baans Ghat on the banks of the Ganga this evening in the presence of thousands of his supporters and politicians.

The supporters shouted slogans against the state government for its alleged failure to provide security, which led to his murder.

Brahmeshwar’s youngest son Indu Bhushan lit the pyre. His supporters claimed that about a dozen MLAs, MPs, former MLAs and former MPs paid floral tributes. Several ruling and Opposition party leaders were scheduled to attend the procession in Patna but they changed their programme at the eleventh hour after they came to know about manhandling of leaders like C.P. Thakur, Lalan Singh and Akhilesh Prasad Singh by the supporters.

Slogans like “Brahmeshwar Mukhiya zindabad” and “Brahmeshwar Mukhiya amar rahe” rent the air. The congregation of such a large number of people was more a show of strength. A supporter was heard shouting through the public address system at Bansghat gate: “Sarkar ke liye ye chetavani hai (this is a warning for the government).” The office-bearers of Akhil Bharatiya Rashtrawadi Kisan Sangathan said they would hold a meeting after the funeral to chalk out their future course of action.
