Gaya/Patna, July 24: Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) have jointly identified several long-distance trans-border trains that were running without police escort.

Additional director-general of police (railways) K.S. Dwivedi said some trains have been identified that touch at least two states like Bihar and Jharkhand, Bihar and Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Now, police escort will be available in all such trains.

A plan has been chalked out to revise the escort police system in running trains. An officer-on-duty will be present at all major railway stations and he will take note of clearance from the escort party running in the train.

Not only this, random checking of all coaches of a train on big stations is also being done. Security personnel numbering 100 to 200 are being involved in such random checking that is going on for the more than 10 days at different stations in Bihar, additional director-general of police (railways) Dwivedi said.

On the other hand, a named FIR has been lodged in connection with the blast on railway tracks between Rafiganj and Ismailpur stations in the night of July 23.

The pilot engine of Bhubaneswar Rajdhani had got derailed as an after-effect of the blast.

The three Rajdhani Expresses — Bhubaneswar, Howrah and Sealdah — had a narrow escape.

Aurangabad superintendent of police Upendra Sharma told The Telegraph that the FIR had been lodged with Rafiganj police station in the district on Wednesday.

The FIR has been lodged under section 3/4 of the Explosives Substance Act, section 150/152 of the Railways Act, section 17 of the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, besides, sections 307, 427 and 124 (A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Eight suspected Maoists — Chandan, Sunil Khatri, Bhupendra Baitha alias Sanjivan, Lalan Yadav, Gore Lal, Bihari, Siddharth Yadav and Manu Yadav — of Aurangabad and Gaya districts have been named in the FIR. Besides, at least 20 unknown people have also been made accused.

Combing operations have been launched against the Maoists in Aurangabad and the bordering areas of Gaya district. A team of forensic science laboratory, Patna, also visited the blast site and collected samples from the spot. The forensic science laboratory team would assist in investigation to ascertain type of explosive used in the blast. Police have started investigation after institution of the FIR, superintendent of police Sharma said.
