The axe is likely to fall on more policemen for allegedly facilitating a woman and two others to meet gangster Anil Sharma in the prisoners’ ward of PMCH on Saturday night.

On Monday, five personnel attached to the Vaishali police were put under suspension and departmental proceedings initiated against them.

Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaaj said the role of officials, assigned to look after security of the ward, was being probed. “If charges are proved, action would be initiated against them,” he said on Tuesday.

Maharaj, in his report to district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, said three rooms and a washroom were provided to Sharma.

The SSP has recommended installation of a CCTV camera in the prisoner’s ward to keep round-the-clock surveillance.
