Deadline for tax payment

Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a notice asking property owners to pay holding tax by September 30, after which a penalty of 1.5 per cent would be imposed, punitive action apart.

Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a notice asking property owners to pay holding tax by September 30, after which a penalty of 1.5 per cent would be imposed, punitive action apart.

"We have set a September 30 deadline for paying annual holding tax after which a fine of 1.5 per cent on due amount would be imposed on a monthly basis. The lapse could invite attachment of property or stoppage of civic services," said deputy municipal commissioner (revenue) Rajeev Ranjan.

Residents can file it online at www.patnanagarnigam.in. Corresponding payment of tax amount can either be made online or at circle offices, civic centres or empanelled banks. Those who have not registered are required to submit property tax registration documents, electricity bills, an identity proof and a duly filled in self-assessment form to any of the civic centres or PMC circle offices. After filing property tax returns, they get a challan to make pay at any State Bank of India branch, civic centre or with PMC tax collectors.
