Campus call amid chaos Colleges roll out admission forms

Patna, June 2: It’s the admission season. And Patna University has set the ball rolling for the Plus Two passouts to decide their future course of action.

Most of the colleges in the city started distributing admission forms for the undergraduate courses today following a notification from the Patna University. The forms will be up for sale till the third week of this month. The deadline to submit the filled-in forms is the same in most of the institutions.

But the aspirants will have to keep their fingers crossed till the last week of June. For, the last date for publication of the selected candidates’ list is June 29.

The admission procedure in all the courses will be over by July 15, according to the notification. The new session in all the colleges will start from July 18.

On the first day, a few turned up to collect admission forms. Reasons: High temperature and enough time to fill up forms.

Mitali Mitra, the in-charge of form sale at Magadh Mahila College, said: “A few students turned up today to collect admission forms because we will sell and accept filled-in forms till June 22.”

Mitra said 64 forms for admission to BA (general category) were sold on the first day. Twenty-five forms for admission to BSc were sold. The demand of forms will increase after the announcement of the intermediate results, she added.

Magadh Mahila College has around 700 seats. In BA, the number of seats is around 350. There are 150 seats in BSc and 200 in BCom.

Priyanka Singh, who had come to collect form at Magadh Mahila College, said: “I have applied for BA (English) in both Patna Science College and Magadh Mahila College.”

Priyanka, who has secured 72 per cent marks in CBSE Class XII examinations, added: “Though I am applying at Magadh Mahila College, my first preference is Patna Women’s College.”

Cut to Patna Science College. Once considered one of the best institutions for science study in eastern India, it also started selling forms today. The intake capacity of the college is 300 but its authorities have sent a letter to the state human resource development department to double its seats.

The principal of the college said: “We give admission to students purely on the basis of the merit list prepared by the college administration.”

The last date for submission of forms in Patna Science College is also June 22. Classes in Patna Science College are set to start from the third week of July.

The sale of forms started today at BN College also. Its last date of sale and submission of forms is June 22.

National Assessment and Accreditation Council accredited Patna Women’s College has started selling from last month. Its total intake of students in undergraduate courses is around 300.

Vanijya Vidhyalaya has started selling forms from last Saturday.
