Khadi is not just a cloth, it is the symbol of a national movement started by Mahatma Gandhi. The Indian freedom struggle revolved around the use of khadi fabrics and boycotting foreign goods. Thus the fabric became not only a symbol of revolution and resistance, but a part of an Indian identity. Khadi is, ultimately, an environment and eco-friendly cloth made by hand, using hand-spun yarn. Weavers Studio hosts Khadi... Walk to Freedom, the ongoing exhibition of wearable textiles inspired by the freedom movement of India. It has on display hand-woven, block-printed and embroidered traditional khadi textiles from the weavers and karigars of Bengal, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh. ART
