Salt Lake meet on schoolbus

Salt Lake civic chief Dilip Gupta will meet the guardians of students studying in township schools and members of the West Bengal Contract Carriage Owners’ and Operators’ Association after September 10 to sort out the problem relating to plying of schoolbuses in the township. Schoolbuses are not allowed to enter the residential areas.

No clues to family deaths

Police are yet to come across any clues relating to the deaths of Pulak Ghosh, wife Rina and daughter Moumita. Superintendent of police (South 24-Parganas) S.N. Gupta said on Tuesday that poison was found in the viscera of Rina and Moumita. The post-mortem had confirmed that Ghosh had committed suicide by hanging himself.

Lightning victim

Gayaram Sardar, 18, died and two were injured after being struck by lightning on Tuesday evening at Rabindra Sarobar. The injured — Sura Sardar, 29, and Dola Bhattacharya, 52 — were admitted to hospital.

Duo identified

The 32-year-old man and the seven-year-old boy who were run over by a train near Brace Bridge station on Monday have been identified as Nur Hossain and Bishal Chohan. They were residents of Ekbalpore.

Fatal fall

Virendra Yadav, 22, died after he fell from a four-storeyed building in Behala on Monday night.

Shop looted

A gang raided a jewellery shop in Bagnan on Monday and looted jewellery worth a few lakhs.
