Siliguri, Dec. 28: Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee today inaugurated a heritage museum and a floriculture and agro-business centre at North Bengal University here today.
“The world is progressing very fast,” Bhattacharjee said in his inaugural address. “And the one thing that has become very clear is that knowledge alone is not enough. What is also required is technical skill,” he said while referring to the Centre for Floriculture and Agri-business Management, which he officially opened.
The centre is part of NBU’s Entrepreneurship Development and Production of Planting Material for the Development of Floriculture in North Bengal project, which has been started by the state government at an estimated cost of Rs 2.957-crore.
However, when science and technological advancements fail to carry forward the progress, it is history and social science that comes to the rescue. This, the chief minister said while referring to Akshay Kumar Maitreya Heritage Museum, the new building for which he inaugurated today. The building has been built at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore, 50 lakh of which came from the state government.
