The results of the state joint entrance examination will be published on Saturday.
About 110,000 students wrote the exam for admission to engineering colleges on April 21.
The results will be available from 3pm on the following websites:
www.wbjeeb.nic.in
www.banglarmukh.com
www.calcuttatelephones.com
www.exametc.com
www.examresults.net
http://results.westbengaleducation.net
www.indiaresults.com
The examinees who register their roll numbers and cell phone numbers at www.exametc.com, will receive the result as a text message once it is posted on the website.
Students can also text “SMS-RESULT<space> WBJEE <space>Roll number” to 56263 to get their result by SMS.
The schedule for online counselling is likely to be announced on Saturday. Sources in the board said students could be allowed to make their choice from June 20. “But seat allocation and admission would be held after July 15, after the declaration of the panchayat election results on July 13,” said a board official.
Unlike last year, the board would allow candidates to get admitted to a college after each round of seat allocation. “Till the security forces vacate the district colleges after panchayat election, they won’t be able to admit students. Hence we have had to defer the process to July 15 and after,” said the official. In 2012, seats were allocated and students admitted to colleges after three rounds of counselling.
This year, the JEE examinees were able to see their answer scripts — evaluated by computers — online from Monday to Wednesday. They had to pay Rs 500 for each rectification they sought in the evaluation. The entire amount would be refunded for appeals that are upheld.
“We have received about 100 appeals. Once we upload the answer scripts on the website (www.wbjeeb.nic.in), the appellants will be able to verify whether the corrections have been made or not,” said Bhaskar Gupta, the chairman of the joint entrance examination board.
Students who do not have a positive score in all the three papers — mathematics, physics and chemistry — will not make it to the merit list this time.
“It is possible that an examinee did well in two papers but scored zero or negative marks in one of the papers. On www.wbjeeb.nic.in, the blank rank card option would explain the reason why an examinee’s name is not on the merit list,” said a board official.
Last year, the names of all candidates who wrote the engineering entrance exam were included on the merit list.
