THE FLIGHT

The obstacles were present, the labyrinth there
The last note he wrote, the tears
As they fell, he tried to conquer his fears
His rage, his love, the burning flare.
Charged with sedition to his death he proceeded
With a brave heart he faced the tribunal, the forum
He had fought for his land, aspired for a better place, but had not succeeded
His eyes pooled as he heard cries of vande mataram.
His ardour for justice had given him wings, his imagination had taught him to fly
Imprisonment had however made him a husk of a man, now nothing but a ghost
Politics is a tough subject - it is cunning, crude and sly
As his last wish,he prayed for his country a new leader, for whom the country's welfare would be foremost.
He had been like Icarus, despite warnings he had flown too close to the Sun
Amidst the crowd, his father, like Daedalus, lost a son.
