Four men were arrested from Nodia in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning for allegedly carrying out a fraud of Rs 56.64 lakh.

The men allegedly forged the signature of a senior official of a private company that has its account in a bank in central Calcutta and sent fake instructions over email on behalf of the company to transfer the amount from its account to seven accounts across India.

The money was withdrawn from the seven accounts through ATMs.

The nationalised bank lodged a complaint with Hare Street police station in the last week of July, following which the case was taken up by the anti-bank fraud section of the detective department.
