They have known each other for 20 years. They have admired each other’s work. Occasionally, they get together to talk about cinema and their careers over coffee. And for the first time, they are coming together in the new Bengali film, Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat, which tells the story of freedom fighter Ananta Singh. The film follows the journey of a mysterious and skilled man who oscillates between being perceived as a robber and a revolutionary.

Directed by Pathikrrit Basu, the film continues to generate excitement with every new development. After announcing the name of Jeet in the role of Ananta Singh, the team now welcomes Tota Roy Choudhury, who plays supercop Durga Roy.

Set against the backdrop of Calcutta in the 1960s, the film chronicles a series of calculated robberies targeting the powerful that stirred both fear and fascination. Behind them was Ananta — an ageing, enigmatic figure seen by some as a criminal, and by others, a saviour. As Inspector Durga Roy led a relentless manhunt, the public remained divided: was he a thief, or a revolutionary reborn? Through shifting timelines, the film peels back the layers of Ananta’s past — as a devoted freedom fighter and as a disillusioned man watching ideals crumble in the face of corruption and greed. As his past collides with the present, Ananta becomes a tale of redemption, rebellion, and the moral cost of justice.

“As an actor, I have always given the highest priority to the screenplay, and the moment I read Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat, I knew it had the strength and depth I was looking for. The character I play is layered, demanding certain features and nuances that truly excited me. Jeet and I have been long-time associates, and somehow, the perfect alignment to work together never happened until now. I am delighted that this magnum opus finally brings us together on screen for the very first time. I play a very upright, dashing, honest inspector. The script is very interesting. I am really looking forward to the shoot,” said Tota.

“We are thrilled to have Tota Roy Choudhury playing the role of Durga Roy in Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat. As a big fan of Totada, I’ve always admired his agility and screen presence, and I’ve long wished to see him in a full-fledged action avatar. This film makes that wish come true. Durga Roy is the arch-nemesis of Ananta Singh — not in a negative way, but as a powerful force of law standing against rebellion. It’s like the classic East Bengal vs Mohun Bagan rivalry — two giants collide from opposite sides. That’s why the faceoff between Jeetda and Totada will be such a cinematic treat. Totada is the perfect actor to bring intensity, balance and authority to match Jeetda’s aura on screen,” said Pathikrrit.

With a stellar ensemble cast, Keu Bole Biplobi Keu Bole Dakat (from Nandy Movies and Jeetz Filmworks) is poised to become one of the most talked-about films of the year. Speaking on the occasion, producer Pradip Kumar Nandy said, “It is an honour to have Tota Roy Choudhury join the team. His sheer talent and screen presence will undoubtedly enrich the narrative and elevate the film to greater heights.”
