A special bus has been sent to bring doctors posted at the Malda Medical College and Hospital from Calcutta as they couldn’t join duties because of the lockdown.

Sources have said the facility has over 170 doctors, most of whom are from Calcutta and other places in south Bengal.

Dr Amit Dan, the hospital superintendent, said if necessary, another bus would be sent to bring in more doctors. ”

The medical college has already opened a 50-bed isolation ward for suspected coronavirus patients. Another cell will be opened soon exclusively for patients tested positive for Covid-19.
