Gangtok, Nov. 30: Seven MLAs of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha today defected to the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front, saying the SKM lacked discipline and vision and they were unhappy with the way the party was being run by PS Golay.

As two-third of SKM MLAs - the party had 10 legislators in the Assembly - have joined the SDF, they would not attract the provisions of the anti-defection law.

"We were not happy with the way the party president (PS Golay) was functioning ...we felt humiliated and ignored in the party. There is no discipline in the SKM and the party has lost vision and ethics" said Hemendra Adhikari, one of the seven SKM MLAs, told journalists here today.

The press and publicity secretary of the SKM, Bikash Basnet, said the seven MLAs had betrayed the people who had elected them.
