Tura, March 2: Bodoland People’s Front’s Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary today said all Bodos spread around the globe should unite as one entity to learn each other’s culture and traditions.

Daimary was in Tura to attend the 6th International Bodo Festival and the first ever Mongoloid Festival, which began on Friday.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Daimary said, “Bodos are part of the greater Mongoloid family. Similarly, there are many other communities scattered around the world whose features, culture and traditions are alike. The objective of this festival is to propagate the message of learning each other.”

Different communities from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh besides, Tripura, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya took part in the three-day festival.

“Bodos and other communities are spread across the Northeast. At this festival, we have tried to foster ties between all communities, be it Garo, Nepali, Deori, Reang, Tripuri, Jamatia, and others,” said Daimary.

Stressing the fact that all Bodo groups are similar in many aspects, Daimary said, “We are all brothers and sisters, so we are creating a platform to unite as one entity.” On unification of all Bodo groups, Daimary said, “Today we have established our own identity as a community and living separately. So there is no question for unification. “We just want to learn from each other, so that we can spread the message of unity and love”.

He hoped the festival would travel to other parts of the Northeast and Southeast Asia.
