The BJP’s Jharkhand unit will organise 31 virtual rallies to highlight the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government during its second term which completes one year on May 30.

Of the 31 virtual rallies, one virtual rally will be attended by 1,000 participants while in the rest 30 virtual rallies the expected number of participants is likely to be between 300 and 500.

State BJP chief Deepak Prakash said the concept came from the party’s central unit.

“We decided to host virtual rallies keeping social distance in mind (due to Covid-19),” Prakash told The Telegraph on Thursday. “Apart from rallies, party workers will establish individual, digital and virtual contact while maintaining social distance norms to make people aware of the government’s welfare initiatives.”

Prakash added that the BJP IT cell will conduct virtual rallies with two-way communication in the rally and participants will have a “real feel” of a rally.

Director of Ranchi-based Shruti Visual Information, Arun Prakash, who has expertise in the field, explained the system to The Telegraph.

“Due to the Covid-19 threat, physical gatherings are not an option right now. That’s why rally organisers create links with the help of a videoconferencing platform such as BlueJeans or Zoom. Links are sent to the mobile phone numbers of participants. Once the participant taps the link, he gets connected with the screen of the organiser, who can then circulate speeches and participant reactions,” Prakash said.

CM on local priority

His government’s priority is not only to provide jobs to educated youths but also to make residents of the state participate in infrastructure development, he said late on Wednesday.
