Bokaro, June 6: Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) will soon send its personnel for training in army camps meant for paramilitary outfits to bring the force on par with COBRA and other such anti-terror units.

This was stated by DIG of JAP (Ranchi) cum coal belt DIG Laxman Singh in a press conference in Bokaro today after a meeting of 13 JAP commandants of the state.

The DIG said the time was right to raise JAP as a substitute for CRPF in Jharkhand as over-dependence on the paramilitary force for every major work including conducting elections, fighting Maoists and keeping the mafia at bay was not wise.

He added that the best way to bring JAP personnel on par with their counterparts in CRPF and COBRA would be by sending them to military warfare schools like the BSF camp at Ramgarh, Meru military camp and for specialised training, to other states.

The DIG said if JAP was to be groomed on lines of CRPF, it should get the best facilities. For this, the commandants must visit JAP battalion camps, posts and pickets from time to time to be aware of the problems and set them right to turn them into the best.
