Ranchi, Oct. 31: The statehood day is barely a fortnight away and preparations are on to make the fourth anniversary bash at the Morabadi ground a memorable one.

But, instead of the regular musical fare presented by playback singers such as Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam or Anup Jalota, this year adventure sports will take the centrestage on November 15.

Para-sailing, hot air ballooning and gliding will be the main attractions.

The five-day adventure sports extravaganza will be organised by the state tourism department at the Deepa Toli cantonment from November 15 to November 19.

The department is organising the show after the success of the four-day adventure tourism festival at Khandoli in Giridih from October 28.

More than 100 participants from Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Orissa and Jharkhand will display their skills in hot air ballooning, para-sailing, para-gliding, trekking, rock climbing, water surfing, kayaking, air-ship modelling and boating at the festival.

Tourism secretary S.K. Choudhary said the Deepa Toli cantonment was selected as the venue as the cultural programmes would be held at the Morabadi grounds.

?A hot balloon ride for 10-15 minutes will cost Rs 50, while 30 minutes? power gliding will cost Rs 200,? said Choudhary.

He said the entry fee was high as organising these shows cost money. ?The charge for para-sailing is, however, Rs 20 per flight only,? Choudhary said, adding that they wanted to make the entry free but had to keep a nominal charge to control the rush.
