New Delhi: Anup Sridhar stormed into the quarter finals of the Asian Badminton Championship with a 21-18, 21-17 win over Hsieh Yu Hsing of Chinese Taipei in 33 minutes.

Sridhar, ranked 35 in world, next faces Shoji Sato of Japan.

Both men’s and women’s teams bowed out of the competition. Akshay Dewalkar and Sanjay Jishnu lost their second round tie 16-21, 17-21 to Njoto Albertu Susanto and Viratama Yohan Hadikusumo of Hong Kong in men’s doubles.

The women pair of BR Meenakshi and Aparna Balan lost to Ma Jin and Wang Xiaoli of China 10-21, 15-21. (PTI)
