Madrid: Real Madrid have agreed to sign Costa Rica goalkeeper Keylor Navas from La Liga rivals Levante on a six-year contract, the European champions said on Sunday. “The player will be presented on Tuesday... on the VIP tribune at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium after undergoing the necessary medical examination,” Real said in a statement.
Lampard move
New York: Frank Lampard is moving to Manchester City on a six-month loan deal, manager Manuel Pellegrini said on Saturday. Lampard left Chelsea when his contract ran out at the end of last season and in July joined new MLS club New York City on a two-year deal.

Milan: Italy and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has joined the criticism of Italian football federation (FIGC) presidential candidate Carlo Tavecchio after the 71-year-old referred to African players as “banana eaters”. “I read his words the day after and they left me disconcerted,” Chiellini said.

Calcutta: Pratyanik Sau and Priyanshu Das entered the final of the sub-junior boys’ singles in the 35th Indian Oil-CLT Table Tennis Tournament, on Sunday.
While Pratyanik defeated Soumyadeep Manna 11-9, 11-8, 11-5, Priyanshu brushed aside Arko Chowdhury 11-6, 11-9, 11-6. In the nursery girls' singles semifinals, Sayani Panda beat Sucheta Sarkar 11-5, 11-5, while Ishika Debnath overcame Anushkaa Datta 11-6, 11-6.

Calcutta: Army Red and Delhi Hurricanes were victorious in their respective matches of the 81st All India Rugby Tournament, being held at the CC&FC grounds, on Sunday. While Army Red blanked Kolkata Police 52-0, Delhi Hurricanes outplayed Jungle Crows 30-13.

Calcutta: Joydeep Karmakar has been selected in the Indian shooting squad for the 17th Asian Games to be held at Incheon, from September 17 to October 4. Joydeep will be competing in 50m rifle prone event.
