Auckland: Otago wicketkeeper Gareth Hopkins was the only newcomer named in New Zealand’s one-day squad on Thursday for the triangular series with England and West Indies which starts on June 24.
He will join experienced allrounder Chris Harris and batsman Hamish Marshall in the one-day squad in England while Chris Martin and Mark Richardson return home after the third Test in Nottingham.
Hopkins has been called up as cover for Brendon McCullum, who plans to return home for the birth of his first child after the third match. Also leaving for the birth of his first child after the fifth match is fast bowler Shane Bond.
