Mohamed Salah scored one and made another as Liverpool thrashed a hapless Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-0 in front of 2,000 fans in the Premier League on Sunday on a night to forget for Wolves captain and former Reds player Conor Coady.
Georginio Wijnaldum, Joel Matip and a Nelson Semedo own goal rounded off the rout. The win lifted Liverpool back up to second on the table with 24 points, behind leaders Spurs on goal difference.
An emotional Juergen Klopp said the return of the club’s fans to Anfield after a nine-month absence gave him goosebumps.
“Wasn’t it the perfect night? When we came out, we all had goosebumps. I had no idea how it would feel. It was perfect. The noise, what the people did...They had waited so long for it,” he told broadcasters Amazon Prime. “They started You’ll Never Walk Alone, it was really nice. I never knew it could feel that good,” Klopp said, his voice welling up with emotion.
