New Delhi/Bangalore: A day after the Supreme Court removed Anurag Thakur and Ajay Shirke as president and secretary of the BCCI for "obstructing" the Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha panel reforms, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) office-bearers Brijesh Patel and two others tendered their resignations.
"Brijesh Patel, Ashok Anand and Dayanand Pai have resigned from the posts of KSCA secretary, president and treasurer, respectively," KSCA CEO MP Ganesh said on Tuesday.
The office-bearers tendered resignations in the light of the apex court setting out conditions based on Lodha panel recommendations for their removal.
"The reason for Pai and Ashok tendering their resignations was that they both were past 70 years of age. And Patel, who is 64 years old, resigned because he had enjoyed positions beyond nine years in the state cricket association," KSCA spokesperson Vinay Mruthyunjay said.
Meanwhile, a section of the directors in the faction-ridden Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) decided to resign and press for immediate implementation of the Lodha panel recommendations.
"We are waiting for the order on the DDCA from the Delhi High Court, which might come later this week," said a senior DDCA official. "We expect the court to appoint an administrator so that the Lodha recommendations can be implemented," he added.
The DDCA administration is currently run by Justice (retired) Mukul Mudgal. He was appointed the observer by the Delhi High Court in 2015.
The officials, who have decided to resign, include DDCA vice-president and former India opener Chetan Chauhan, and seven others.
