South Point win

South Point School registered a 115-run victory against Don Bosco School in the inaugural match of the 6th Sitaram Agarwala Under-16 Inter-school Cricket Tournament, organised by Bud Cricket Club, at Nehru Stadium here today.

INTER-SCHOOL CRICKET

Guwahati, Oct. 13: South Point School registered a 115-run victory against Don Bosco School in the inaugural match of the 6th Sitaram Agarwala Under-16 Inter-school Cricket Tournament, organised by Bud Cricket Club, at Nehru Stadium here today.

Electing to bat first, Riyan Parag and Sayan Dey scored 75 runs each to help South Point post 252 for seven in the stipulated 50 overs. The Bosconians' chase ended with them getting all out for 137 in 31.2 overs.

Riyan scored his 75 off 77 balls, slamming his former schoolmates for nine hits to the ropes and two sixes. Sayan remained unbeaten on 75 off 78 balls hammering seven boundaries and two sixes. Manish Kr Bharti also chipped in with 33 (5x4).

Mridyutpal Mahanta of Don Bosco took three wickets for 36 runs and Manikarna Sarma picked up two for 60.

Riyan also hauled four wickets for 28 runs to be adjudged Man of the Match, along with Sayan. Dhruvraaj Borah and Mandeep Deb took two wickets each for 48 and six runs respectively.

Demien Anand Sereng (57, 5x4, 1x6) and Manikarna Sarma (17, 3x4) were the only notable scorers for Don Bosco.

Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti will clash with Royal Global School tomorrow.

Gyan Education, Fairyland triumph: Gyan Education defeated Maharishi Vidya Mandir by 84 runs and Fairyland High School beat Happy Montessori High School by 18 runs in their respective matches of the Padma Kr Saikia and Sandhan Saikia inter-school cricket tournament, organised by City Cricket Coaching Centre, at Dispur parade ground here today.

In the 18-over-a-side matches, Gyan Education scored 125 for six wickets. The score was a team effort, with Chitaranjan Prasad (23) and Rohit Das (27) being notable scorers.

The Maharishi players were bundled out for 32 runs in 9.2 overs.

For Gyan Education, Rahul Sharma hauled five wickets for 17 runs and Aditya Das picked up three for one run.

In the second match, Fairyland elected to bat and scored 120 runs losing three wickets in 17 overs with Kausar Ali (28) and Bibek Paudel (20) being the main scorers.

In reply, Anuj Paudel (22), Kamakhya Singh (26) and Aakash Sharma (21) gave a good fight for Happy Montessori, but the rest could not maintain the tempo and managed to score only 102 runs with one wicket remaining unspared in 18 overs.

For Fairyland, Pritam Das scalped three wickets for one run while Suresh Ray took two for 18 runs.
