Khurai B enter final - Manipur Police humiliate Lamyanba Pakhang 9-0

Imphal, Feb. 24: Khurai Polo Club (B) humbled its senior team 5-4 on their way to the final of the 20th Governor's Cup Polo Tournament at Imphal Polo Ground today.

Riding hard, the Khurai Polo Club (A) team found the lead through Th. Ranjit Singh in the first chukker, but the match turned in favour of the B team from the second chukker onwards as Th. Mocha Singh scored a hattrick to turn the tables.

Not to be outshone by their junior team, the Khurai PC (A) side fought hard as Ranjit Singh found the mark again to tone down the lead at the end of the second chukker. The competition took on a new edge with some aggressive riding and Khurai Polo Club (A) soon fetched the equalising goal with Ranjit Singh scoring again in the third chukker.

Khurai Polo Club (B) raced ahead in the fourth chukker as Th. Basanta Singh scored, but T. Roshan Singh replied positively, fetching the equaliser for the Khurai (A) team to make it 4-4.

In the dying moments of the game, Th. Mocha Singh saddled up to strike home the winning goal for Khurai Polo Club (B) for a 5-4 victory.

In another match, Manipur Police Sports Club defeated Lamyanba Pakhang Polo Club 9-0. Lamyanba Pakhang looked lost in the game today as the cops improved with every strike. Seasoned campaigner S. Bimol Singh scored six goals while I. Khaba, M. Jawan and S. Somorjit fetched one goal each for the thumping win today.

Tiddim Road Unique Gamy Players Union had a solitary goal win over Anouba Imagi Mangal in a match of the 2nd Lamyanba Hijam Irawat Memorial Invitation Football Tournament at Eastern Shine Public ground at Moreh in Chandel district today.

Junior girls’ soccer: Young Welfare Club, Langthabal edged out Manipur Police Sports Club 2-0 en route to the final of the 6th S. Ronika Devi Junior Girls’ Football Tournament at Eastern Sporting Union ground today. In the other semi-final, Kangchup Road Youth Physical Sporting Association beat Eastern Sporting Union 6-2.
