Jorhat electricity boost

Assembly Speaker and local MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami said Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) will soon launch a plan to boost electricity coverage and quality of supply in areas under Jorhat Assembly constituency.

Jorhat: Assembly Speaker and local MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami said Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) will soon launch a plan to boost electricity coverage and quality of supply in areas under Jorhat Assembly constituency.

Addressing the media at the circuit house here on Tuesday, Goswami said the APDCL has sanctioned Rs 30 crore to install new cables and posts to cover areas where electric supply was not available.

The Speaker said under the initiative, 15 high-powereded transformers of 250kVA capacity and 40 transformers of 100kVA capacity will be installed in rural and urban areas to improve the quality of electric supply in areas where there have been complaints of frequent disruptions in power supply.

He said according to survey reports, 77 villages among 118 covered for total electrification have been selected for providing aerial bunch conductor cables to prevent possible power thefts.

Goswami said a monitoring committee under him has been constituted to supervise the implementation of the APDCL plan.

He said the plan will also include improving the quality of electric supply to the consumers in areas where there were complaints of low voltage and frequent disruptions in supply.

The Speaker said under the initiative 118 villages within two electrical divisions of Jorhat electrical circle of the power company will be covered.

He said the villages, spread over Jorhat and Dergaon constituencies, will have uninterrupted power supply.
