Guwahati, Nov. 29: Assam Ranji player Jason Jarman Lamare today cracked a brilliant century to help Shillong Cricket Association post a first innings total of 192 against East Khasi Hills in the Shillong Zone semifinal of the Cricket Association of Meghalaya’s first senior inter-district cricket tournament in Shillong.
Lamare, who has not been in the reckoning for the Ranji team in the ongoing season, scored 100 on the first day of the two-day match today. Allwyn Bamon claimed four wickets for East Khasi Hills.
In reply, East Khasi Hills were 30 for no loss at the end of the day’s play today.
Eight teams are participating in the inter-district tournament that commenced on November 23. The teams have been divided into two zones — Shillong and Tura — and the winners from both zones will play the final in the state capital. The matches of Tura zone will commence tomorrow.
The tournament is being organised as an effort to fulfil the guidelines to secure affiliation of the state association with the BCCI, said association general secretary Naba Bhattacharjee.
