Guwahati, Sept. 13: The open events of the All-Assam Inter-district Badminton Championship got under way at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today. Guwahati Sports Association is organising the four-day tournament to mark its golden jubilee celebration.

Rajdeep Sarma, Abhinab Gogoi (Tinsukia), Pragyanjyoti Gogoi, Tarangajyoti Saikia, Krisanga Bharadwaj (Nagaon), Gaurisankar Gogoi, Sangram Chutia (Charaideo) and Dipjyoti Dutta (Guwahati) booked quarterfinal berths in the boys’ under-10 court.

Ashmita Chaliha of Guwahati and Dipika Kaushik of Charaideo made it to the girls’ under-10 quarterfinals this evening. In the boys’ under-13 event, Rana Kumar Baruah (Sivasagar), Saheel N. Magi (Guwahati), Jujit Saikia, Miftahul Haque, Md Ehsas (Nagaon), Partha Pratim Gogoi, Vishal Garg (Jorhat) and Monjit Gogoi (Tinsukia) have entered the quarterfinals.

In the team event semifinals last evening, Guwahati A beat Jorhat 3-0 and Guwahati B blanked out Sivasagar 3-0. The all-Guwahati finals were scheduled for late this evening.
