Widow demands job from govt

Imphal: Aphuna Golmei, the widow of sepoy Robart Golmei, who was charred to death in a militant attack recently, on Sunday demanded a government job to support her two children. Golmei, who was posted at a Siliguri cantonment, died along with his mother-in-law Ginthailu Gangmei when militants of the Kuki Liberation Army set on fire a bus bound for Guwahati in Karbi Anglong on October 23 night. Aphuna delivered a son nearly a month ago and came back to Manipur on Sunday. Her eldest daughter Maryna is three years old.

Accident

Nagaon: Three persons were injured when a truck loaded with cement crashed and fell into a waterbody at Haidubi under Jajori police station on Sunday.

Multa rebel held

Dhubri: Police arrested one hardcore Muslim United Liberation Tigers of Assam (Multa) activist, Hafizur Rahman, from Bhomrabil under Gossaigaon police station of Kokrajhar district on Sunday evening. A pistol was found in his possession.

Ganja haul

Dhubri: The intelligence wing of the BSF has seized 105kg of ganja from a country boat on its way to Bangladesh at the Mantrichar border outpost in Dhubri district on Sunday.

Cattle seized

Dhubri: The 29 and 5 battalion of the BSF seized 120 heads of cattle from different places in the district on Sunday.
