Dibrugarh, April 24: Dibrugarh Cricket Coaching Centre (B) defeated Namrup Cricket Academy by 88 runs to enter the semi-final of the 2nd Simang Arnold Phulari Invitation (Under-15) Cricket Tournament at the Dibrugarh DSA outdoor stadium here.

The Dibrugarh Cricket Coaching Centre is organising the meet in memory of budding cricketer Simang Arnold Phulari, who died in 2009.

In the third quarter-final today, DCCC (B) won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 176, losing nine wickets in 30 overs. Opener Debanjan Tinsina topscored with a 30-run knock off 45 balls while his opening partner Siddharth Doshi contributed 22 with three boundaries.

Suresh Mahatu made 19 off 21 balls with three boundaries while Arindam Baruah scored 16 from 21 with one boundary. Aman Das made 14.

DCCC (B) also benefited from lacklustre bowling and poor fielding, giving away 68 runs as extras.

For Namrup, offspinner Hemangalal Gogoi picked up three wickets for 37 runs in six overs while medium pacers Papu Dungdung and Kaushik Bhuyan came up with identical figures of 44 for two from their quota of six overs each.

In reply, Namrup Cricket Academy scored 88 losing all their wickets in 23.5 overs.

Number 6 batsman Rohit Nanda was the only player to move into double figures with 24 off 23 balls.

For DCCC (B), left arm spinner Bipin Kumar Rai was the wrecker-in-chief, picking up four wickets for just 14 runs in his 5.5 overs. Siddharth Doshi captured two wickets for nine runs in four overs.

In yesterday’s match, OIL India Higher Secondary School, Duliajan defeated Tengakhat Cricket Academy by 56 runs to enter the semi-finalt.

Dibrugarh Railways Cricket Coaching Centre will meet Dibrugarh Cricket Coaching Centre (C) in the last quarter-final tomorrow.

2nd division soccer: Local outfits Royal Wahingdoh will play Ar-Hima FC while Shillong Lajong FC will meet Southern Samity, Calcutta in the final round of the second division I-League football tournament at Polo Ground in Shillong on Monday. The final leg will end on May 14.
