The vigilance cell of Lower Assam and the Central Assam Electricity Distribution Committee detected 143 illegal power connections in Basistha, Garbhanga and Narengi during a special drive that ended on Saturday.
Nearly Rs 2 lakh was taken as fines from 40 people with illegal connections.
