Itanagar: Ninong Ering, one of Arunachal Pradesh's two Lok Sabha members, has welcomed the positive dialogue with China for peaceful solutions to the myriad problems between the two countries.

He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is scheduled to visit China on April 27-28 for an informal meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, to sort out issues such as stapled visa and frequent incursion by Chinese soldiers.

In a letter to Modi on April 20, he wrote: "I would like to share some of the concerns of the people of Arunachal. The issue of China providing stapled visa to our people must be brought to their attention. The government must assert the territorial integrity of India."

He brought up the issue of Chinese troops entering the state to build roads, as at Bising village of Tuting subdivision. "A few months ago, the Siang turned black owing to ill-intent projects and diversion of waters of Brahmaputra river by the Chinese authorities. The focus of the government must be on negotiating a water treaty with China for the sustainable development of the region," Ering said.
