Kolkata-based composer Pandit Prodyut Mukherjee has added another feather to his cap by becoming a jury member for the next edition of Grammy Awards.

On his way to the jury panel, the composer, who is also a well-known rock percussionist, has been chosen as a voting member of the California-based Recording Academy, which is best known for hosting the annual Grammy Awards ceremony.

“I feel honoured for being selected as a voting member at the prestigious Recording Academy. I will try my best as a member,” he said.

The musician has been asked to select music and cast his vote via a specific online platform. “Now I can vote for the next edition of Grammy Awards. It's an amazing achievement for me,” he said.

Mukherjee is one of the most prominent names in the field of Indian classical music for his various musical initiatives. Besides music, he is also known for taking a number of environment initiatives like ‘Green Tabla’, where he used his old and damaged tablas and turned them into a medium for the plantation.

The composer won the Global Indian Music Academy Awards for his album ‘Rhythm Express — Moods’ along with Padma Bhushan Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt in 2016.
