Many Kolkatans still don’t care about wearing a mask. The Telegraph criss-crossed the city on Saturday, and here are snatches what it saw and heard

1/5 Two women got off an auto in Gariahat and were seen walking down the street, the older among the two without a mask. When the photographer asked her why she was not wearing a mask, the woman replied, “Oh, I had it in the bag. I just got off from the auto, now I will wear it.” And she wore it.

2/5 Outside the Dum Dum Metro station, in a crowded area, a man was seen without a mask for close to 20 minutes. He was busy speaking on the phone. When the photographer approached him, he said, “My shop is right here. I don’t have network inside so I came out to speak on the phone.”

4/5 Outside South City but still on its premises, two women were walking towards the mall, talking to each other. One of them had her mask on the chin. At the entry of the mall, only when the security personnel asked her to put on the mask properly, the woman pulled it up to enter the mall.

5/5 A man on a bike was seen taking rounds near Tollygunge Metro station twice. Both times without a mask. He had no mask but a scarf was hanging around his neck. When the photographer asked him  he said, “Oh I have pulled  it down only to spit,” and drove away.
