Christmas is a time of joy, celebration and indulgence. But, what makes the festive season even sweeter are the delicious treats that we enjoy with our loved ones. Thanks to Instagram, now the traditional cookies, cakes and pies come with a twist. In this edition of Reels of the Week, My Kolkata picks a few cute Christmas-themed treats that are easy to make, fun to decorate, and perfect for gifting.

Gingerbread cookies err… cupcakes

The warmth of Christmas is incomplete without some gingerbread cookies. But taking that traditional Christmas treat a step up, @veggieworldrecipes has created gingerbread cupcakes! These fluffy and spiced cupcakes are wholly vegan with the warm and earthy flavour of gingerbread. Topping it with a little cute gingerbread man cookie completes the cupcakes.

Christmas Nutty Chocolate Log

Christmas log or Bûche de Noël or Yule log is a festive dessert that originated in France and is popular in many countries during Christmas. It is made of a thin layer of sponge cake that is decorated to resemble a log. Recreating the classic dessert, @kirtibhoutika makes a nutty chocolate log that is super easy and requires just a few ingredients.

Snowman Affogato

Are you a fan of Frozen’s Olaf? Then, this snowman Affogato will definitely remind you of him. @estherscafe shows us a fun way to serve Affogato topped with a cute melting snowman. With the help of a scooper, she scoops two balls of vanilla ice cream and puts little eyes and a nose to make a snowman. Put it in a glass and pour hot coffee in it. Isn't it just like the Olaf song – In Summer?

Snow-covered chocolate pine cones

Do you know you can have edible pine cones? While you may not really want to eat the real ones, these chocolate cake pines are certainly delicious! @michelechung_ makes snow-covered pine cones that look very real! These are made from chocolate cake and chocolate cereal. If you are having a party at home, these real-looking pine cones will be a fun dessert to serve!

Pesto pastry star wreath

Christmas-themed desserts and cocktails are going viral this year. But savoury items are few and far in between. We found this delish Pesto pastry star wreath created by @myfussyeater filled in with green and red pesto, and parmesan cheese. This savoury wreath can be served on a board at any house party. If you want, you can fill in with some chunks of chicken or strips of bacon, too.

Pizza Christmas tree

Another savoury Christmas snack is this pizza Christmas tree by @lauracleanaholic. The Instagrammer gives a savoury twist to the viral puff pastry Christmas tree – adding cheese, tomato puree and toppings. These can be made in a few minutes and are a perfect party starter.
