Written by business advisor Avik Chanda and economics professor Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay, Work 3.0 tackles this head-on and also deals with some of the other most pressing and complex questions of the present age. Avik Chanda and Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay have employed rigorous research supplemented with industry reports, business case studies, expert interviews, anecdotes and their personal expertise and insights, to present a rich multi-disciplinary brew that spans economics, statistics, public policy, history, sociology, psychology, law, political science, literature and philosophy. Ambitious in scope, rich in analytical detail and far-reaching in its conclusions, the book, to be launched in September, aims to change the way we think about the future and how the past and present still shape it.
On June 5, Indo British Scholars' Association (IBSA) in association with The Bengal Club and the University of Birmingham organised a panel discussion on the book Work 3.0 with its authors Avik Chanda and Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay at The Bengal Club. Other eminent panellists included partner of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP, Joydeep Datta Gupta; partner and general manager of PricewaterhouseCoopers SDC, Barsha Sanyal; and neurosurgeon Dr Sandip Chatterjee (moderator). The event was attended by members of IBSA, The Bengal Club and other eminent personalities.
IBSA president Subrata Paul delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of the future of the workplace in the context of globalisation and technological advancement. East and Northeast India director of British Council, Debanjan Chakrabarti, was the guest of honour and spoke about challenges in the evolving workplace. The panel discussion was well-moderated by Dr Sandip Chatterjee through which interesting insights emerged on the future of the workplace, the influence of digitalisation and the importance of mental well-being in the workplace. South Asia and Middle East regional director of the University of Birmingham, Dipankar Chakraborty, presented the vote of thanks at the end of the discussion.
